It all started when Rex Putman made a simple version of a 4x4 grid no tac toe game called Lines. No tac toe is like tic tac toe but if you get 3 in a row you lose. One day Rex showed his mom how to play a version of Lines with movable pieces. She suggested adding a way to force the pieces into a four-in-a-row. After that Rex added "throwing" and Lines became Stitches.
Stitches is a two player game consisting of a game bag, 5 black pieces and 5 white pieces.
The object of the game is to force your opponent to have 4 game pieces in a row. A row can be vertical, horizontal or diagonal. If you are able to force your opponent to have 4 pieces in a row, you win!
To begin the game peacefully decide who plays with what color. Each player then takes turns placing one game piece on any unoccupied square. Once all of the pieces are placed you may begin playing by moving one of your pieces 1 space in any direction except diagonally to any empty space. The player with the black pieces begins first.
You can only move diagonally to overtake an enemy piece in an adjacent square. Once you have overtaken an enemy piece you must occupy that space with your piece, but you can now “throw” your opponent’s piece to any unoccupied space on the game board.
Other Rules:
-Your move is complete once you have let go of the game piece(s).
-If both of the players get four in a row at the same time, the player
who caused the tie loses.
-Feel free to play or create modified versions of Stitches!
